The NHS Atlas of Variation in Healthcare was first published in November 2010 and received much positive media coverage. The aim in publishing The NHS Atlas of Variation in Healthcare November 2011 is to enable clinicians, managers, commissioners and providers to focus on the questions that need to be addressed. What has emerged from this work is that much uncertainty still exists in the pursuit of evidence based healthcare.
